The Champs sensation began while working with the Miami Heat on the 2012 playoffs White Hot Heat Fan Kits. The reaction of the fans to the gift bags, and especially our See Ya Shades sparked our decision to create sunglasses that would symbolize and express the feeling of victory. What followed was an unexpected, huge response.
2012: Miami Heat player Chris Bosh made it a worldwide sensation after appearing on NBA Finals championship game post-game interviews wearing our Champs shades. Our instinctive action of producing these last-minute items captured attention all across the globe; from the Middle East to Europe and the Far East.
2013: Popularity followed. The second edition Champs shades debuted on the Heat court with various players taking pride in wearing our fresh, new design. A photo of Chris Andersen aka ‘Birdman’ wearing the shades went viral instantly, while Chris Bosh used the image of himself rocking the Champs shades as his official trophy profile picture.
in late 2013 NBA mega-star, Lebron James chose to wear the glasses for his ESPN magazine cover.
By the end of the 2013 world-famous clothing brand Adidas decided to create a line of shirts inspired by our Champs design.
Due to an enormous demand and popularity, the Miami Heat decided to use the glasses as inspiration for a mobile app which would allow users to virtually wear the Champs shades. Fans felt connected by displaying their love and devotion on their own faces. Champs shades are sold out and now considered a collector’s item.
